The Goals & Objectives of Kulture Teach...

The goals of Kulture Teach are as follows:
1) Expose students to non-curriculum literary works and theatrical performances
2) Strengthen writing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking in order to improve students' skills
3) Develop personal and professional skills that can be utilized throughout the remaining years of high school and upon college entrance.
The objectives of Kulture Teach are as follows:
1) Attend weekly sessions and participate in workshop lectures that will provide an overview of theatre history and learn about key playwrights
2) Complete reading assignments and discuss them during sessions to determine analytical ability
3) Complete short writing exercises throughout the course of the workshop
4) Prepare twenty minute skits or monologues that will be performed during a special drama showcase which will be organized by them under the direction of the facilitator.
The Micro-Curriculum of the Kulture Teach consists of the following:
1. Overview of African American theatre
2. Anatomy of a Stage Play
3. Writing Exercises
4. Execution
As a result of this workshop, teens will have a greater exposure to theatre as a way to interpret everyday life as well as address social issues from their perspectives. It will grant them a platform of creativity and expression, which is necessary for the development of a refined citizenry. They will have the ability to discover and hone their artistic gifts and professional skills without a formalized environment. Through the workshop's engaging components, it will boost student interest which could in turn enhance their overall educational performance and achievement.
